Mrs Mohanty attends Champaran Satyagraha Centenary in Bihar

Rutuparna Mohanty attended Champaran Satyagraha Centenary in Bihar, inagureted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to mark 100 years of the satyagraha. Maa Ghara Mahila shanti sena leaders jyoshna mohanty, suchanda mahaptra and kanak lata sahoo also took part in the occasion. Other legends as Swami Agnivesh, Medha Pathekar, Tusar Gandhi and many more participated the ocassion.

Maa Ghara rescues 25 Girls from a Women Trafficker

With the able leadership of Mrs. Rutuparna Mohanty, "Maa Ghara" (Mothers Home) rescued as many as 25 girls near Bhubaneswar Railway Station, who were originally from Kamakshyanagar, Dhenkanal district, while a lady trafficker from West Bengal was trying to track those girls. Notably, Maa Ghara also provides a shelter for rehabilitating trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls. The home has served 5,000 women since 2004 through rescue, care and legal protection.

Maaghara Foundation trains 30 Tribal Girl of Sundergarh Dist

Consulting with CRPF, Bhubaneswar, Maaghara Foundation trained 30 Tribal Girl of Sundergarh District as security guards who are affected by poverty and prone to traffic. After the 3 month training by CRPF staff, now they all are in job, getting good salary. The CRPF with the help of Maa Ghara in Nabarangpur district has also started a new initiative to improve various skills of the vulnerable section of women and find employment for them in the locality. It is to be noted that about 5000 tribal girls have gone missing from the Sundargarh district in the last five years, according to a complaint lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

Religious Outrage: Rutuparna Mohanty urges for Peace in Bhadrak

Rutuparna Mohanty urged to maintain peace in Bhadrak as communal tension erupted at the town on Thursday after a person posted derogatory remarks on Lord Ram and Sita on Facebook. Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists started blockading traffic on roads and gheraoed a police station. A peace committee was formed in Bhadrak consisting of about 20 members from different communities. But their talks failed.

Rutuparna Mohanty demands probe in Koraput Love & Death case

Renowned social activist Rutuparna Mohanty demands for immediate police action in Koraput Love & Death case. It is to be noted that the couple in love had fled from the village as their families were against the relationship over caste issues. When they had returned to the village as husband and wife, family members of girl tortured them in front of the villagers. Not able to bear the torture, they attempted suicide by hanging themselves. Fortunately the girl was saved but the boy died.
