Rutuparna Mohanty meets mothers in Malgangiri Dist; takes stock of JE situation

Rutuparna Mohanty met with mothers in Malgangiri whose kids were died due to Japenese Encephalitis.

Talking about rampant increase of Malnutrition, Child Mortality in malkangiri District, Mohanty said Maa Ghara is fighting against corruption and following mahatma Gandhi's Ideology - to create a Nasha mukta, Hinsha Mukta and Durniti Mukta samaj.

She said to reporters that, though crore of rupees coming to this areas in the names of development, preventive measures have not been taken in that area. Officials blame monsoon for encephalitis outbreak. There have no awareness among the people about sanitation & cleanliness.

Mohanty urged Govt to declare children death as 'National Calamity' as it becomes a disaster in that area.

Human rights lawyer and social activist Rutuparna Mohanty is the fourth daughter of freedom fighter followers of Mahatma Gandhi. Maa Ghara Foundation starts Women Peacemaker Award from 2014

For the first time in Odisha, Maa Ghara Foundation Trust (MGBT) launched a National level Award programme as “Maa Ghara Women Peace maker Award” as an initiative aimed at encouraging women’s participation in conflict resolution in Odisha. Under the leadership of Maa Ghara Managing Trustee Rutuparna Mohanty, every year Maa Ghara Foundation awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a citation and a trophy to the social reformer, who is working for the empowerment of women on the occasion of the Mother’s Day. The Foundation is asking for nominations across India. The women working on “conflict resolution and peacemaking” are eligible for peace maker award. A 15-member panel is short listing five candidates; the final selection is always decided by the jury committee.
