Annual Day Celebration of Maa Ghara Balasore with an aim to create Nasha Mukta, Hinsha Mukta Society

Attending the annual day celebration of Maa Ghara Balasore and centenary celebration of Mahatma Gandhiji's Champaran Satyagraha, former Member of Legislative Assembly from Haryana, Arya Samaj scholar and a social activist Swami Agnivesh said that no one is big or small in this society. These are the political parties who create ruckus among people on the name of caste , creed , colour and religion and taking advantages from that. There have a need to change the power and present political system, he said. Maa Ghara Foundation starts Women Peacemaker Award from 2014

For the first time in Odisha, Maa Ghara Foundation Trust (MGBT) launched a National level Award programme as “Maa Ghara Women Peace maker Award” as an initiative aimed at encouraging women’s participation in conflict resolution in Odisha. Under the leadership of Maa Ghara Managing Trustee Rutuparna Mohanty, every year Maa Ghara Foundation awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with a citation and a trophy to the social reformer, who is working for the empowerment of women on the occasion of the Mother’s Day.  The Foundation is asking for nominations across India. The women working on “conflict resolution and peacemaking” are eligible for peace maker award.  A 15-member panel is short listing five candidates; the final selection is always decided by the jury committee.

Rutuparna Mohanty meets mothers in Malgangiri Dist; takes stock of JE situation

Rutuparna Mohanty met with mothers in Malgangiri whose kids were died due to Japenese Encephalitis. Talking about rampant increase of Malnutrition, Child Mortality in  malkangiri District, Mohanty said Maa Ghara is fighting against corruption and following mahatma Gandhi's Ideology - to create a Nasha mukta, Hinsha Mukta and Durniti Mukta samaj. She said to reporters that, though crore of rupees coming to this areas in the names of development, preventive measures have not been taken in that area. Officials blame monsoon for encephalitis outbreak. There have no awareness among the people about sanitation & cleanliness. Mohanty urged Govt to declare children death as 'National Calamity' as it becomes a disaster in that area.

Human rights lawyer and social activist Rutuparna Mohanty is the fourth daughter of freedom fighter followers of Mahatma Gandhi. From her childhood she learned that she lived in a society “where women are treated as secondary citizens, where in every five minutes a woman is either assaulted or abused and exploited, where women are grossly deprived of their participation in the socioeconomic and political floors, and where women have ... no voice against the violation of their human rights.” To support women standing up to injustice, Mohanty began working with nonprofits and became the secretary of Sanjeevani, a large organization in her state of Orissa. There, she was especially affected by the plight of unwed mothers who faced discrimination, poverty and alienation, and were already victims of or became subjected to trafficking and prostitution. Maa Ghara launches Sampurna Swaraj Abhijan at Bagpur Panchayat in kalahandi Dist

Government's apathy towords rampant increase of illegal business of alcohol and women atrocities in Kalahandi district makes people in trouble. Though people protests across the districts to prohibit alcohol, under the pressure of government and district administration, the protest was not fruitful. Sampurna Swaraj Abhijan lunched at Bagpur panchayat of Narla Block of Kalahandi district. Around 2,000 women activists including representatives of panchayats have taken oath to promote mahatma Gandhi's Ideology - to create a Nasha mukta, Hinsha Mukta and Durniti Mukta samaj. Maaghara Malkangiri district branch Shanti Sena members under the leadership of Prasantilata Bisoyi,  met district collector. They demanded for Nasha Mukt and Hinsha Mukt Malkangiri, a good initiative to make politics corruption free.

Mrs Mohanty attends Champaran Satyagraha Centenary in Bihar

Rutuparna Mohanty attended Champaran Satyagraha Centenary in Bihar, inagureted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to mark 100 years of the satyagraha. Maa Ghara Mahila shanti sena leaders jyoshna mohanty, suchanda mahaptra and kanak lata sahoo also took part in the occasion. Other legends as Swami Agnivesh, Medha Pathekar, Tusar Gandhi and many more participated the ocassion.

Maa Ghara rescues 25 Girls from a Women Trafficker

With the able leadership of Mrs. Rutuparna Mohanty, "Maa Ghara" (Mothers Home) rescued as many as 25 girls near Bhubaneswar Railway Station, who were originally from Kamakshyanagar, Dhenkanal district, while a lady trafficker from West Bengal was trying to track those girls. Notably, Maa Ghara also provides a shelter for rehabilitating trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls. The home has served 5,000 women since 2004 through rescue, care and legal protection.

Maaghara Foundation trains 30 Tribal Girl of Sundergarh Dist

Consulting with CRPF, Bhubaneswar, Maaghara Foundation trained 30 Tribal Girl of Sundergarh District as security guards who are affected by poverty and prone to traffic. After the 3 month training by CRPF staff, now they all are in job, getting good salary. The CRPF with the help of Maa Ghara in Nabarangpur district has also started a new initiative to improve various skills of the vulnerable section of women and find employment for them in the locality. It is to be noted that about 5000 tribal girls have gone missing from the Sundargarh district in the last five years, according to a complaint lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

Religious Outrage: Rutuparna Mohanty urges for Peace in Bhadrak

Rutuparna Mohanty urged to maintain peace in Bhadrak as communal tension erupted at the town on Thursday after a person posted derogatory remarks on Lord Ram and Sita on Facebook. Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists started blockading traffic on roads and gheraoed a police station. A peace committee was formed in Bhadrak consisting of about 20 members from different communities. But their talks failed.

Rutuparna Mohanty demands probe in Koraput Love & Death case

Renowned social activist Rutuparna Mohanty demands for immediate police action in Koraput Love & Death case. It is to be noted that the couple in love had fled from the village as their families were against the relationship over caste issues. When they had returned to the village as husband and wife, family members of girl tortured them in front of the villagers. Not able to bear the torture, they attempted suicide by hanging themselves. Fortunately the girl was saved but the boy died.
